ST. LOUIS, MO – McGrath & Associates has completed the construction of an upgraded hospital utility plant in St. Louis, Missouri. The 9,000 square foot project includes new mechanical, electrical and generator rooms constructed in existing shell space. The existing utility space was upgraded to include new mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure. A unique aspect of this project was that it was phased to keep the existing hospital in use during construction with only stoppage for tie-ins. Temporary systems for electrical and chilled water were setup to reduce downtime. The construction was also a challenge because the entire site contains rock at approximately 6” below grade.
As part of the project, McGrath also performed equipment procurement for the utility plant and self-performed concrete work. The project consisted of a new boiler system, new chilled water system and electrical infrastructure upgrades. McGrath partnered with Murphy and Corrigan for mechanical and plumbing work.
