McGrath & Associates is committed to health and safety excellence in the office and on the jobsites.

Safety is a company core value at McGrath.  As part of the commitment, all McGrath management personnel, from our project engineers to our president, complete advanced OSHA training. We hold monthly companywide safety meetings. The safety meetings are led with a specific training topic, followed with discussions on industry best practices, & closed with the sharing of lesson learns from any applicable incident(s) or near miss(s) that were reported in the prior month. In addition to, and separate from the safety meeting, each specific project site hazards are evaluated prior to the start of work and then a specific safety plan is developed to be used for training purposes and guidance on each said project. All job sites will have ongoing site-specific safety training, weekly tool box talks, and daily job hazard analysis throughout the duration of the project. The above listed proactive safety measures are one of many that McGrath has implemented in effort to aid in training its employees on proper safe procedures, correcting unsafe behaviors/conditions, identifying hazards, and ensuring proper mitigation controls are in place to reduce likelihood of incident occurrences. McGrath strives for ZERO injuries each year.

With this approach, McGrath has historically achieved an OSHA-total recordable incident rate (TRIR) lower than the national average for construction.

OSHA PARTNERSHIP
-1 of 20 Contractors

McGrath was accepted into the St. Louis Construction OSHA Partnership Program in 2004, which recognizes exemplary health and safety standards in construction. To gain membership, McGrath underwent extensive job site visits and a detailed review of the company’s health and safety program by third-party safety experts. We were scored 122 of a possible 130 points in an objective third party assessment by:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • St. Louis Building and Construction Trades Council
  • Carpenters’ District Council of Greater St. Louis and Vicinity
  • Associated General Contractors (AGC) of St. Louis.

“We tip our hat to McGrath’s exemplary safety record. Their score of 94 percent in the OSHA Partnership Program makes them one of a select few firms that has reached those high standards.”

Leonard P. Toenjes, President of the Associated General Contractors of St. Louis
