McGrath & Associates is committed to health and safety excellence on the job.

Jobsite safety is a company core value at McGrath.  As part of this commitment, all McGrath management personnel, from our estimators to our president, complete advanced OSHA training. We also hold monthly meetings to discuss industry best practices in safety and weekly Tool Box Talks to discuss safety protocols on specific projects.

With this approach, McGrath has achieved an OSHA-total recordable incident rate (TRIR) of more than 50 percent below the national construction industry average.

We are proud of our exceptional Experience Modification Rate (EMR), a factor used by the insurance industry to rate workers’ compensation premiums based on contractor safety performance and loss history.

Total Recordable Injuries

Our track record on safety has been recognized by the Associated General Contractors of Missouri Safety Awards Banquet for several consecutive years.

OSHA Partnership Program
McGrath was accepted into the St. Louis Construction OSHA Partnership Program in 2004, which recognizes exemplary health and safety standards in construction. To gain membership, McGrath underwent extensive job site visits and a detailed review of the company’s health and safety program by third-party safety experts. We were scored 122 of a possible 130 points in an objective third party assessment by:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • St. Louis Building and Construction Trades Council
  • Carpenters’ District Council of Greater St. Louis and Vicinity
  • Associated General Contractors (AGC) of St. Louis

We are now one of 15 St. Louis general contractors who are OSHA Partnership members.

With the commitment towards safety a company core value, we are continually enhancing our safety program to remain up-to-date and competitive. For example, all McGrath management personnel – from our president and vice presidents to project managers, engineers, estimators and project superintendents – have completed 10-hour OSHA training and currently are enrolled in 30-hour OSHA training.

“We tip our hat to McGrath’s exemplary safety record.  Their score of 94 percent in the OSHA Partnership Program makes them one of a select few firms that has reached those high standards.”

Leonard P. Toenjes, President of the Associated General Contractors of St. Louis
